I resemble that remark !! 
Guilty as charged - I have accidentally given teammates positions away by shooting them in the face whilst wearing tacs.
When wearing tacs, there is often a short delay before teammates names appear over their heads.
If you pop around the corner and no name appears, I shoot you in the face! It's just automatic.... If I pause and you're an enemy, I'm dead. But because TK is off, I shoot first and ask questions later!
My eyesight isn't what it used to be, so the tacs help me to spot all of the annoying campers who lurk in hard to spot places with sniper rifles waiting for easy kills. That is the advantage of tacs. The disadvantage is that in a close-up situation, it is often difficult to tell friend from foe.
However, if TK was turned on, (and/or if there were less campers) I would use the tacs a lot less. On other servers with TK on (which includes some TDM servers as well as other game-types), I only use tacs to scope out enemy campers. The rest of the time they'll be turned off, or not equipped at all.
Likewise, if TK is on, you just need to be more careful with grenades and be mindful of team-mates using grenades. Also forgiving players on your team for accidental hits/kills helps too, so they don't get banned for excessive TK. Unless they are repeatedly doing it on purpose, in which case you grudge them and wait for them to get kicked!
Going slightly off-topic, it always makes me laugh when someone accuses me of using a wallhack after shooting through one of the trains. There was a guy on blue yesterday (or the day before), can't remember their name - camping behind the train at red spawn. As soon as I spawned at red, the tacs showed a square behind the train. No name appeared, so I shot through the train and killed him. Within seconds there was a whinging message - "Admin - Jasonhippy is using wh!" - LOL, nope - just using tacs!
What was he even doing there in the first place? Sounds like a spawnkiller to me?! Heh heh!
A couple of times, he was camping on the railway bridge at the front of the train, shooting at my team-mates on the other bridge. So I ran along the top of the carriages and shot him through the train. Within seconds..... "Admin!...." LOL!
That same game, the tacs also helped me to spot and kill Arupembra, who was well-hidden in the rocks next to the train at red spawn. And that happened more than once! Again, what was he doing there?! More to the point, what were my team-mates doing to let him get there in the first place?! Heh heh!
